When to call us

It’s important to know when to call us during your pregnancy, birth, and the first week after delivery. Below, we explain at which moments you should call, and which number to use to reach us as quickly as possible.

    For non-urgent questions or administrative matters.

    Available 24/7
    For labour, urgent concerns, or symptoms that cannot wait.

Here we explain when you should call us and on which telephone number:

During pregnancy

Call the emergency number (06 – 5478 8178) if you experience:

  • Any kind of worry — even if you’re not sure
  • Abdominal pain or contractions before 37 weeks
  • Vaginal bleeding
  • Possible signs of cholestasis:
    • Sudden nausea
    • Severe itching on your palms or soles
    • Intense generalized itching
  • Possible signs of high blood pressure:
    • Sudden nausea after 20 weeks of pregnancy
    • A tight band-like feeling around your upper abdomen
    • Pain in the upper right side of your abdomen
    • Flashing lights or blurred vision
    • Noticeable swelling, especially of your face or hands
  • If, after 28 weeks, you feel your baby moving less than usual.

  • Registering with our practice
  • Rescheduling appointments
  • Non-urgent questions or minor complaints
  • Work or travel certificates (such as a Fit-to-Fly statement)

During labour

Call the emergency number (06 – 5478 8178) if you experience:

  • Worry or uncertainty about labour
  • Vaginal bleeding
  • Contractions:
    • First baby? Call when contractions last 1 minute, come every 3 minutes, and continue for 1 hour.
    • Not your first baby? Call when contractions come every 5 minutes and last 1 minute.
    • Sometimes we make different arrangements, depending on how your previous birth went.
  • When your water breaks:
    • Brown or green fluid — call us immediately.
    • Clear fluid with white flakes or light pink color:
      • If the baby’s head is not engaged (we will tell you this during your check-up) → call us immediately.
      • If the baby’s head is engaged → you don’t need to call us at night; try to rest and call in the morning. If it happens during the day, call us right away.

During the first week after birth

Call the emergency number (06 – 5478 8178) if:

  • You are worried
  • You lose a lot of blood (more than two large clots or continuous heavy bleeding)
  • You have a fever or feel unwell
  • You feel emotionally low, anxious, or depressed
  • Your baby is not drinking well
  • Your baby looks pale, yellow, or not pink
  • You think your baby might be ill
  • Your baby’s temperature is below 36.5 °C or above 37.5 °C
